7 Days of Prayer, Day 2
Devotional
"Hallowed be your name"
Yesterday we saw that we begin our prayer recognizing God as our Father who has all power and authority and who fill that place in our lives.
Today we move to the second phrase of our prayer "Hallowed be your name".
"Hallowed" is synonymous with "holy", and means set apart. For us, that means there is nothing else that can take its place, do what it can do, or fulfill its purpose in our lives.
When the Lord spoke to Moses out of the burning bush and Moses asked "Who shall I say sent me?", the Lord said to tell the Hebrew Children that "I AM" had sent him. What better way to describe the Holy name of the Lord! There is none who can do what He can do. His power and dominion are above and beyond that of any other. He has all power over sickness, disease, death and the grave. It's by this power that we live and breathe. And it's all in His name!
In the bible, the name reveals the character of the person. When God reaffirmed His promise to transform Abram from an exalted father to a father of multitudes, he changed his name to Abraham to reflect who he truly was. When Jacob prevailed in the wrestling match with the angel of God, his name was changed from "deceiver" (Jacob) to Israel: prevailer. A name means something to our God!
To "hallow" the name of God is to give Him honor as all that He is: Creator, Redeemer, Provider, Healer, Protector, Our Shield, Our Deliverer. . . . The list is endless.
Also, to hallow His name is to be sure that nothing else is put in His place. He made this clear when He said "you shall have no other gods before me". (Exodus 20:3)
Spend some time speaking to God, extolling and lifting up His name. Tell Him who He is to you! Tell Him what He means to You! Assure Him that He is first in your life and will continue to be.
Prayer
Holy Father, I am humbled in your presence. Your name is great and greatly to be praised, and I give you the praise of all of my heart this day. You are my Creator - you knew my innermost parts before I was formed in the womb. You watched as I was birthed, and you laid out the plan for my life. Holy One, you have the power to break down every wall that stands in the way of the path you have ordained for me. I surrender to you and trust you to exercise your unlimited power to do that today.
Lord, I make you first in my life today. There is none above you or before you and I look solely to you for my provision and deliverance. I trust only you in those roles and you have proven yourself over and over again to me.
Thank you, Lord, for who you are in my life. Help me today and every day from now on to keep you at the forefront of all that I do.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Scripture Readings

Psalm 103:1–5 (NKJV) 1Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!2Bless the Lord, O my soul,And forget not all His benefits:3Who forgives all your iniquities,Who heals all your diseases,4Who redeems your life from destruction,Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,5Who satisfies your mouth with good things,So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:11–14 (NKJV) 11For as the heavens are high above the earth,So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;12As far as the east is from the west,So far has He removed our transgressions from us.13As a father pities his children,So the Lord pities those who fear Him.14For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

I'm thankful for those who are praying with us today!
It’s tough to step away from “every day life” and put God first when we focus on all the problems and happenings. However, when we begin to honor him, His purpose for us becomes clear and His calling becomes our focus.
Praise God our heavenly father
Hollowed be thy name for his love is like no other.
